The Friends have a busy events programme to engage members and non-members alike, including outings and a holiday, as well as various events within the Cathedral and Close to which all are very welcome. Any small profit made goes towards our funds to support Salisbury Cathedral. We have tickets for most events which are bookable in advance or can be bought on the door – but please check with the office beforehand, just in case we are sold out!!

Saturday 27th January 
Sarum Six ‘Winter Warmer’ 7.00 pm Cathedral Refectory

The Sarum Six will be entertaining us by candlelight and we are delighted that the first half of the programme of sacred Renaissance music will be performed in the Chapter House – a first for the Friends! We will then go into the Refectory for our drinks and nibbles and the second half of music with a maritime flavour.

Tickets £15 to include glass of wine/nibbles

Tuesday 6th February
Cosy Coffee Morning in the Bell Tower Tearooms  10 – 12 noon

Come and join together in a morning of fellowship – all welcome to enjoy coffee and home-made cakes and biscuits – no tickets required

Tuesday 13th March
A talk by Elizabeth Crawford – Millicent Fawcett: Campaigning with Family and Friends

7.00 pm Cathedral Refectory

2018 is the centenary of the first limited franchise for women, and a statue of Millicent Fawcett is to be put up in Parliament Square in memory of her outstanding contribution to women’s suffrage. Millicent came from the redoubtable Garrett family, and was married to Salisbury local Henry Fawcett. Elizabeth Crawford, who has written extensively about this remarkable woman, her work and circle, will consider the part Millicent played in improving the lives of women in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

Tickets £15 to include glass of wine/nibbles

Monday 9th April
A coach outing to the beautiful Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Romsey & Romsey Abbey

A coach outing, departing from Millstream Approach, Salisbury at 9.30 am. Cost includes a guided tour and talk from the Head Gardener of the Hillier gardens, a real treat; guided tour of Romsey Abbey; all entrances and coach travel. Time to explore the town before departing Romsey at approximately 5.15 pm

Cost: £35 per person

Sunday 20th May
‘Secret Gardens of the Close’  1 – 5.30 pm

A very popular event for Friends and members of the public alike – another chance to enjoy and explore some gardens in the Close of Salisbury Cathedral rarely seen – some new gardens and favourites this year.

Tickets tbc for an entrance programme to enter all the gardens so watch this space, but will be available on the day from the Friends Entrance Tent on Choristers’ Green.

25 - 29 June - Friends’ Holiday to Chester – fully booked
