Day Trip to Weald & Downland Living Museum and Chichester Cathedral

29 April

Wednesday 29th April 2020

A full day’s trip to this fascinating living museum set in the beautiful landscape of the South Downs National Park. A collection of over 50 historic rural homes and buildings from a replica Anglo-Saxon hall house to an Edwardian tin church, this 40 acre site tells the stories of those who lived and worked in rural south east England over the last 1,000 years.  On arrival there will be refreshments and a short introductory talk about the site, you are then free to wander and explore – there is an on-site café where you can purchase your lunch or you might prefer to bring a picnic.  We will depart for nearby Chichester at 2.30pm for a tour of the cathedral, meeting up with the Friends there for tea and cake before departing for Salisbury. The trip includes coach travel, museum entrance, coffee and biscuits on arrival, a short introductory talk, donation to Chichester Cathedral, tea and cake with Chichester Friends. Please be aware that the museum is an outdoor site with some steep and unmade paths as well as some cobbled paths and many of the buildings have internal steps and staircases so suitable footwear and clothing will be required.  If you have any queries about managing access please contact Julia to discuss. Tickets £45
